Traveling with a Pet
Train
- A Form No. 1 veterinary certificate with proof of rabies vaccination is required
- Pets must be transported in a carrier
- Small animals weighing up to 20 kg may travel in the passenger compartment; larger animals must travel in a separate compartment
Airplane
- Up to 8 kg, including the carrier, may be placed under the seat in the cabin
- Over 8 kg must be placed in the heated cargo hold
- A veterinary certificate issued no later than 5 days before departure
- Reserve a spot in advance: the number of animals is limited
Traveling Abroad
- International veterinary passport
- Microchipping (ISO 11784/11785)
- Vaccinations according to the destination country’s requirements
- International veterinary certificate
Travel Tips
- Do not feed your pet 3–4 hours before the trip
- Bring a bottle of your pet’s usual water
- Let your pet sniff the carrier in advance—it will get used to it
- Use sedatives only as prescribed by a veterinarian
