Life-Threatening

• Chocolate — theobromine is toxic to dogs and cats
• Grapes and raisins — cause kidney failure
• Xylitol (gum, candy, toothpaste) — causes a sharp drop in blood sugar
• Onions and garlic — destroy red blood cells
• Alcohol — poisoning even in small doses, death
• Caffeine (coffee, tea, energy drinks) — tachycardia, seizures

Dangerous

• Boiled bones — shards can injure the gastrointestinal tract
• Avocado — the toxin persin is dangerous for most animals
• Macadamia nuts — weakness, vomiting, tremors
• Raw dough — bloating and alcohol release during fermentation
• Large amounts of milk — lactose intolerance

• Fatty foods — risk of pancreatitis
• Large amounts of salt — disruption of water-salt balance
• Sweets and baked goods — obesity, metabolic disorders
• Raw fish — risk of parasite infection
